Born and raised in Montreal, I visited Maine as a 16 year old and moved here permanently at the age of 18. Years later, as a young mother looking for ways to stay home while earning an income, I became a knitwear designer, working with national magazines and yarn companies, which turned into a lifelong career. After 35+ years I put away my needles and shifted my focus toward new creative paths. This exploration quickly opened my mind to the endless offerings of mediums and surfaces available to artists.
Now, 10 years later, I alternate between watercolors, acrylics, oils, scratchboard, colored pencils, collage, pastels, mixed media, and needle felting. As a knitwear designer, my inspirations for every new knitted piece required deciding on fiber content, weight of yarn, solid colors or multi-patterning, cables, lace, interesting construction… After transitioning to fine art my brain has continued to work in the same way, at times inspired by a photograph, first giving it a vision in my mind, then selecting which size, medium, colors, and substrate that will give it its best life.
As I move forward in my artistic journey my aim is to always create with purpose while bringing forth pieces that give me and the viewers ever changing experiences.
