Padi Mayhew is a Canadian born artist from Quebec who, as a third generation paper maker, has converted commercial paper making into a fine art form. Padi is a 1980 graduate of Bishop's University, but discovered her interest in 3-dimensional designs while living in the Colorado Rockies for eight years and studying independently in 3-D clay works. It was in Maine in l988 that she found a true expression in the art form of paper making and was recognized. She took many awards such as Best in Show, Most Original Work, and several Honorable Mentions, along with having one of her designs displayed on the White House Christmas tree.

She was influenced by the Abstract Expressionists and Marilyn-Quint Rose. Padi found that the medium of papermaking allows her the freedom to create and connect with the source of her art through which she finds her expression. Padi is lured by naturally beautified architectural spaces and originality in innovative decor. As such, her pieces enhance and compliment richly-textured furnished environments and are often used as meditative focal points.

Although the paper art form may appear fragile in nature, the paper is acid free with exceptional color retention without degeneration, and surpasses canvas durability. This durable, medium is constructed in pulp of Abaca Banana stock, Flax, Ragweed and Mulberry tree, among others combined by her own formulated colors, creating richness, depth, movement and textures.
